I've always loved the manga best. I have to admit...I actually kinda hate the anime. A lot. D: I don't hold it against anyone, but I can't help hating it XD; I unfortunately have only ever seen one musical, and I haven't exactly FINISHED PGSM, but I enjoy it XD Sometimes it's SO HORRIBLE...that it's good. ...Sometimes.
But yes, most definitely manga for the win <3

Hokay so I already made my choice here but I realized something rewatching season one of the anime.
I totally like PGSM better than the (at least first season) anime. They added so much to the character and Usagi is adorable instead of. eh. And Rei is also far better, and I actually LIKE Mamoru which NEVER happens. Yeah, so that's interested.
Manga still > all though. W00t manga.

I'm a proud manga fan. Not only do I love it more for the story, but I also tend to icon it more than the anime.

This one was extremely hard for me, because I like all of them (except Myuu, which gives me headaches). My favorite is actually the manga, because I feel the plot and character exposition is more subtle than in any other incarnation, but I voted for PGSM. I LOVE the anime, but after a while it does get sort of stale with the MOTW format.
*SPOILERZ R HERE*
However, I think people miss the point of PGSM a lot. If you look at it closely, it really does introduce a lot of interesting plot elements, like the Shitennou having difficulties choosing sides, and Beryl losing control of Metallia, and Princess Sailor Moon being enraged. I think the series truly shines, though, in the fact that it focuses a lot more on the characters' civilian lives than their senshi lives, and does so more than any other incarnation. It allows for so much more character exposition instead of the anime's (and even manga's) somewhat excessive battle scenes.
*SPOILERZ R DUN*
In other words, I voted for PGSM because I think it's underrated, but I really like the manga the best. XD

Yeah, I totally agree. The wonderful thing about PGSM is the characters' struggle with the past life, especially in Minako and Usagi. It really makes the point well that Usagi is NOT Princess Serenity. This is why it's my favorite incarnation of Usagi/Mamoru, because they are drawn to each other aside from their past lives, it's not just an inevitability, you really feel like they like the other person in this life, which is hard in the anime. Because they are working to separate themselves from the past, they actually have a stronger relationship in the present life.

i started off with the anime, and it's what got me into anime. Usa and her big bug eyes. but i prefer the manga, even though i'll always love the anime. never seen the musicals or anything else.

The anime, but I definitely love them all. (Though I really need to watch ALL of PGSM and the myuus one of these days. It's on my list after I finish Cardcaptor Sakura.)

My manga translations are a bit wonky (well, a lot wonky. Halfway through, they change the Outer's names to the dub versions ) and I can never track down PGSM with readable subtitles. I found the Myu when I first ventured into the SM fandom and thought it was hilarious and very cute, but can't get long enough subtitled clips to really get into it. But the anime. I loved it as a kid and I was sold on the S season long before my DVDs arrived. And I fully admit to playing the English dub with English subtitles at the same time to save myself from the whole 'cousins' business, and because I find, with both, you actually get more out of the characters. Or maybe I think that because I usually write fic when I watch 'S'. There's some hilarious lines in the dub as well. I almost choked the first time I heard Haruka's dub line of 'Go shopping, there's a sale on personalities' or something. It's so very, very nineties . /rambles

I have to say the anime, if for no other reason than that it's the only incarnation so far I've seen in its entirety -- though I do like it for its own sake, despite the way it tends to get bogged down. D: The few chapters of the manga that I've read I really liked (though wow, it moves *fast* compared to the anime), but I held out for scanlations over scans of the formerly-licensed Mixx version, so I'm only just now getting to read it, a chapter or two at a time. +__+ I actually like the myus. Not for any virtuoso storytelling or acting, at least in the three or four that I've seen, just because they're so gloriously ridiculous. Sailor Moon flying around on a wire with a wand as big as her torso. Marvelous. Catchy tunes, too. As for PGSM . . . mixed messages. D: I keep hearing about how rad it is and how closely it sticks to the manga, and then I hear about Minako being an Ineffectual Angsty Loner and Princess Sailor Moon and gah. I actually do have it, I just don't seem to have the steel to make myself watch it. XD I have to agree at least on the surface with Lexie -- the anime, especially, is so, so mid-nineties. I feel nostalgic just watching it.

Sailormoon is really an amazing fandom, and one big reason is because of how huge it is! The anime, manga, live-action, and musical versions are honestly four VERY distinct creations, and all of them somehow build on the previous version(s).
And I third the sentiment about the anime being mid-nineties! Even at times, the early episodes and early chapters of the manga reflect the wonderful 80s charm that was still lingering! xD The English version, though, is definitely a freakin' throwback.

I definitely like the manga the best! I dunno I love the anime too, but I've always been a purist type person, always wanting to know the true story as it was meant to be told...and that's in the manga obviously =P

XD For 99/100 manga that have been adapted into anime, I've liked the original manga much better. *high-fives*

It's hard for me to answer this.. because even though I have been a fan of Sailor Moon for almost ten years now, I have never read the manga. I know about stuff that has happened in the manga, but never read it.
I'm not a big manga fan in general.
Don't shoot me! LOL.
