Well, seeing as I'm probably the only person who's going to post here who hasn't read the book (I read up to the chapter with the hearing about 3-4 years ago, one day when I was babysitting... can't say that's worth much ), I'll say that I didn't find the movie too confusing. There were several parts that I would have liked to have further knowledge of, and a few characters where it took awhile to remember their background/relation to other characters, but for the sake of the movie's depth, it made sense. It was pretty good, the special effects were done really well, the characters were believeable (except Dumbledore *punts*), but, I can assume that like any of the previous movies in comparison to the books, the book was probably definitely better as far as explanations go and they also probably cut a lot out. But that's just how it works~ I'll have to go read it now, even though reading a book is never as magical and suspenseful after you've been influenced by the movie counterpart ^^; Yeah, I better get on those books, seeing as I want to read the 7th one before everyone spoils it for me like the 6th :x Which means I might have to reread 1-4 as well so I'm not lost >_> Lolz, I remember when I went to see the 4th movie with my friends, and one of my friends who hadn't read the book was super excited because we told him that there'd be a sphinx in the final part of the Triwizard Tournament (and that was our entire motivating force to drag him along). He sat there looking forward to that sphinx through the entire film, then it turned out that the movie cut most of the final competition (the maze) out to fast forward to the part with Cedric's death, thus, no sphinx XDD We all apologized to him for the lack of sphinxness.

I was not a huge fan of the movie. At all.
In fact, it may be my least favorite. It's pathetic that Order of the Phoenix is the longest book but the shortest movie. There were several things that were changed that could have been kept the same, and it wouldn't have been a big deal.
Let's hope the next two movies aren't nearly as disappointing as this one...

TMF: I assume your friend is a fan of Egyptian antiquities? XD Well, I'm glad you could follow it... I LOVE the fourth movie. LOVELOVELOVE. The third was also good, but cuts out the entire Marauders subplot, which is IMPORTANT. Yeah, I like Michael Gambon, but not his Dumbledore. Peter O'Toole would've been so PEEERFEEEECT <33333
starr: ...It was the shortest? Really? Whoa.

Just saw it today. As a movie, I thought it was pretty well done. Artistically, I loved it. Am I the only one who really loved the opening shots with the grass and the turning park thing? XD. Loved that. There were some pretty interesting camera shots throughout as well.
I enjoyed some of the newer casts like Bellatrix, Umbridge and Luna... and that lady in the OotP with the changing hair... ummm. Tonks. XD
I was kind of disapointed with how they just ended the Cho and Harry story without much explanation. It's all like LOL BIG MAKEOUT SCENE, then WHOOOSH *no conversation*, then *CHO DISSAPEARS FROM THE FILM CEPT FOR IN THE BACKGROUND*.

Okay, I just got back, I enjoyed myself immensely. Besides I have such low expectations due to how much the first two sucked XD. Snape was brilliant. New casting all was brilliant. My nitpicky cuts: 1) Dumbledore's "fate worse than death" speech is REALLY IMPORTANT. Bad filmmakers. I feel like sometimes they need an actual fan telling them what's relevant. 2) Neville's role in the prophecy, and explicitly stating Trelawney gave it. COME ON GUYS. 3) "Give her hell from us, Peeves" 4) LILY IN SNAPE'S WORST MEMORY. But on the whole I enjoyed myself, and I don't care if it's choppy or people won't know what's going on in the next two, because they should read the books anyway

And commenting on what everyone else has said, I agree about the Cho thing. It's so weird how they built it up but then it just disappeared and most people probably didn't even realise they weren't going to go out anymore. And the explanation at the end of the movie about the prophecy and stuff was so short. I almost thought it wasn't going to happen. It hardly explained anything at all. But I still thought this movie was better than the others. I don't think it would have been as confusing as the 4th movie for those who haven't read the book.

I loved HP5 so much, I've bene compiling a list of why I do, and also what I didn't like. Overall, I'd definitely go see it for a third time.
AND THAT LEAKED BOOK BETTER NOT BE THE REAL ONE. *sob*

...It took me 8 1/2 hours to read HP7. Without giving spoilers away, I can say that I LOVED this book. LOVED. I've always liked Harry as a character, but he really was just so wonderful. And when Harry used the [ BLEEP ] to see [ BLEEP ] before going to [ BLEEP ], I BAWLED D: I haven't cried since LAST July, but ohgod, seeing [ BLEEP ] just made me break down. The biggest thing I didn't like was the epilogue XD Ew, fic.

I don't think ANYONE liked the epilogue (myself hardcore included), save my boyfriend's mother, who teaches third graders as an occupation, LOL.
I cried, too, but, oh, roughly 1-2 chapters before that. DDD:

Is anyone else seeing how the filmmakers are screwing themselves over by the time they get to movie 7 by taking things out? And HP6 already has a release date set. (November 21, 2008 I believe.)
Wow, Britti, proofread.

I just finished HP 7 today. I was really pissed after I read book 6, because of what JK did with Snape's character, but I'm very content after reading 7 now. <3 Snaaape.
