I'd like to suggest some non-graphic ways to get cards. For those people who like to make graphics, they can earn a ton of cards every month, while those of us who hate making graphics (and/or are terrible at it) are stuck waiting every two weeks for the games. Plus, 4/5 contests require not only art enjoyment, but SKILL at art in order to have a chance at winning.
So this thread is some ideas on non-graphical contests and submissions that hopefully other people will be able to participate in. I know you guys are super busy, but let's be honest, SCMR doesn't need anymore level badges, but every month you get a zillion of them. Why not expand the site to include other aspects of sailor moon, more akin to say 'support group'.
1. [submission] Allow support group entries once a month instead of 3 times max. Yes they have a lot of card rewards, but again, so does making graphics 2. [submission] Have a discussion question of the month submission: IE: Write a 250 (or some word min) paragraph on your favorite SM season and what about it you like. Or state your opinion on the most interesting sailor moon villain. Articles could be rewarded with cards and posted on the site for people to read. 3. [submission] Simply have a monthly article submission for posting on the site. 4. [contest] Have a monthly 'finish the paragraph' contest. IE the sentence "Ami rushed down the street her hension stick in hand. She could hear...." Have people submit the rest of the paragraph and the most creative wins. 5. [contest] One TCG (cephiro collections) had a game where 4 - 6 letters were given, and the entrants had to make a sentence with them. Most creative won. Had to be related to the series IE: A S O T B Ami slipped on the banana.
I'd love to hear other people's ideas. I'd just like to see something us non-graphical/non-art people can participate in besides one contest and the games.
Thanks

I was actually thinking about talking to calico about a contest or something similar that had to do with the otaku senshi shop. After you build your senshi, write a little companion story about them or something. :3 I like all these ideas, but it's up to calico. XD The mods are way packed with work already.

It's not really up to me anymore. If somebody wants to run one, more power to them. But I'm not doing it. XD

You could have always participated. No one ever stated that you were banned from trying. Participating alone allows you cards anyways. I run enough stuff. After the new contest *I* want. I'm done picking up extra work for now.

Eeee those would be fun to do :3 well the "random letters, make a sentence one" anyway XD But I think all the staff are piled with stuff? o-o;; Along with maintaining the rest of the site .-.

Actually, I could totally run a monthly contest... But I would rather not do one based on writing. I already have enough to read for uni. D:

I think these are good ideas - it'd be nice to have something for everyone, kind of like we had at the olympics. The staff is busy of course, but if none of the staff wants to I'd be willing to freelance one of the options.

I might be willing to do the letter one, but I would like to hear other ideas too.

Even just trying for graphics and arts gets you cards, we have had people who worked with paint etc to make graphics. And the point of getting cards for graphics is kinda that you are helping the site out at the same time. Honestly we have so many ways to get cards right now that I think it would just be a lot more work on the already stressed staff.
If you don't like doing graphics then participate in the caption contest, & coloring contest, donate to mamoru's cards, Play all of the games, we also have a new game coming out soon. Fan gifts, spending crystals at the departo, and trading in general.
Also the point of the contests we have is to get people involved and to make them work for cards, And to get people involved. Basically you get cards for the effort you put into something. If you don't like making graphics then that is fine, but the people who do make them are being rewarded for their effort.

However, the contests are only once a month and much of the time, I can't even donate to Mamoru's cards because all of the cards have been donated already. Plus, the games and fan gifts are only every two weeks, and crystals are dependant on that and getting more cards.
Like Latara, I'd also be willing to run one (or two) of these. I hate making graphics (not to mention that I'm terrible at them and SCMR would be better off without my graphics XD... although I'll have to make some to complete my otaku senshi, so you'll see what I mean), and so I'm sad that I can't get more cards. Let me know if you'd like to do something like this, Calico! <3

We already have a lot of staff members, one for each senshi, but currently there are tons of ways to get cards, The contests are only once a month but if you participate in each one that is a LARGE chunk of cards at the end of the month. And honestly SCMR has a crazy amount of ways to get cards. If you dont like doing graphics submit to caption contest. Coloring contest can easily be done in paint and isnt even really graphic intensive. And trading is honestly the best way to get more cards. Trade as much as you can, mastering sets gets your crystals and you can get a ton of crystals if you do all the games every week, use the sailormoon wiki or google if you don't know the answers. Make sure to take cards from quitters cards which will have more cards added on wednesday, take from sparkys giveaway, and the senshi birthday threads. If you play all the games, enter all the contests, and take from all the threads even without placing you will get at least 150 cards a month. I personally enter everything, spend all my crystals, and trade link a maniac and tend to get 400-500 cards a month. And my staff pay is a whopping 15 cards of that.

Yeah, I haven't entered a contest OR donated graphics to date and I'm not complaining, and my pay is less than Jesh's.
So, really. :/ C'mon guys. It's not that hard.

(:
We (the royal we! haha) really appreciate the ideas, and I really like the acronym game like Cephiro Collection used to do (I miss that TCG dearly), but for right now I think that's the most that we'd be willing to add.
Believe it or not, we've been working heavily on adding more non-graphical ways to get cards for you guys. That's why in the last month I added Chibichibi's Match Game and Kakyuu's Tarot Cards. Like someone else said earlier, there's another non-graphical game coming your way this month, too. There has been a lot of inner action with SCMR, with half of the members being busy and Calico herself being on a semi-hiatus.
SCMR already has more contest-type activities than most other TCGs out there. Heck, some other games don't even have submission type contests at all (save special occasions).
Like I said, I really appreciate the suggestions though. I promise we ARE working. <3

Britti, the point she's trying to make is that it's not a matter of it being 'hard'. Some people just do not enjoy making graphics and are frustrated by the majority of the 'ways to get cards' being graphical in nature.
(I, for one, absolutely love making graphics. But I know that not everyone does.)
That's sort of what the main point of this is: other ways to earn cards. Some people may feel that it's hard to keep up with others who do the monthly contests, donations, etc. - the game isn't as much fun when you don't have as much card fodder to be trading for what you need.

Either way, I have yet to enter a contest or make a donation due to nearly the same reasons. D: So I do understand, thanks for the explanation, but still. I helped judge the captain contest--why didn't Kajouka enter that? It's not graphical in the least.
Now, I'm not saying anything about Kajouka, so don't even go there. It's the point. We are making more games for you all. Please be patient with us, especially as uni just started for most of us.
The fact remains: The biweekly games, a contest (And a half, because you can print off the coloring contest and use it to entertain children if you have them/babysit or maybe are bored... or just use the fill option in paint.), Card Casino, Quitters' Cards, Senshi's/Character Birthdays, YOUR birthdays, the departo (Hey! Send in some crystals for random cards! It's cheap and you can increase your trade fodder QUITE a bit.)... These are all options, along with the new ones we're already coming up with.
Sure, the graphic thing is there but that goes to helping out the site as Jesh said. Can you [plural you] give us some non-graphical ways that you all could do that actually aids the site? (Although I'm starting to agree about some of the donations but now that the Otaku Senshi runs somewhat on them, ya aren't gonna get rid of 'em.)
And I have offered to run a contest if I hear more ideas. The acronym game would be something interesting, but it seems incredibly too easy for a monthly contest. I'm up for hearing suggestions on how it make it harder, but the current idea that everyone's for would end up in a measly prize, and I'm not going to hand out cards on a silver platter, since I'm one of the few staff members that aren't already up to their eyeballs in work.
Anyway, thanks for your time, but I think that, at the moment, there is plenty going on (already established and in the works)! Just please. Let's, everyone, be patient.
