Yup. With your OWN money --> not a present. XD
I honestly don't remember. The first one I remember buying myself was t.A.T.u.'s 200 k/m In The Wrong Lane after it first came out. I still have it, and I still listen to it...although I do prefer the original Russian album over it. (And I bought that too XD)

Well.. I haven't really had my own money until just a while ago. Yes... even the money in my purse was my mum/dad's for a very long time. But anyway, I recently bought Anthony Callea's 2nd album with my own money. YAY!
People probably don't even know who Anthony Callea is.. just cause I feel like it, he was the 2004 runner up in Australian Idol. ^^
I'm not working anymore though so ... no more money. T_T

You know? I really can't remember. I know the first ones I received as a gift was The Eagles - Greatest Hits 1976 and the tribute album with an almost identical play list, Common Thread - the songs of the Eagles.
I believe the first I bought with my own money was either Metallica's self-titled "Black Album", Soundgarden's Down on the Upside, or a Nirvana CD. Hard to say which.

I could tell you the first R-rated movie I bought..... But, first CD?
I think it was one of a batch. The Evanescence Fallen album, the Sarah McLachlan Mirrorball album, the Enya Paint the Sky with Stars album, and the Rammstein Sehnsucht album were bought all at the same time.
I've got some varied tastes, don't I?

Daft Punk's "Discovery" ftw! <33
I still listen to it today, even though it's so scratched up it's not even fun-nay.

It just occurred to me that I've never bought a music CD with my own money... I've bought CDs, but not with my own money... omg..

What I actually meant was like...you could've used money that you got as a present (since it technically your money then) just not gotten the CD as a present. XD Otherwise I've never bought a CD with my own hard-earned money either. =D

Well, I haven't used gift-money either... I've never handed money over the counter and gotten a CD in return. All my CDs have been bought online, and *cough* not with my own credit card.... >_>

The first one I bought by myself was that small girl group M2M. The first one I got as a present was some lame 1950's Hits thing lol.

=O I loved M2M! But actually, the first CD I bought was the soundtrack to The Lion King. I must have been about 8 or 9. But then yes, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, M2M, all those. True that.
