Any other Dragonball fans out there? And by DB, I mean any of the series... DB, DBZ, DBGT, whatevz. I know that DBZ =/= Sailormoon (or ANY shoujo for that matter), but for whatever reason, I'm a softie for epic anime. I started watching DBZ on Toonami (Cartoon Network) when I was 12 or 13 and I absolutely fell IN LOVE with the characters, the story, everything. Even if the original Saban dubs of DBZ were monumentally AWFUL, I still knew it was a cool show. The FUNimation dubs weren't much better, but hey, beggars can't be choosers! I recently bought the first two "seasons" (even though Season 2 is only one-half of the original second season), considering they're releasing the entire thing remastered and WITH SUBTITLES, no less!! Talk about win. As for the other two incarnations... well, I really dislike DBGT. The storyline went whacko and a lot of the characters are just plain out of character! Dragonball was good, but I've only read bits of the manga and watched the first half of the anime. So DB/Z/GT y/n?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE DragonballZ. I started watching it on Toonami but soon graudated to VHS fansubs of it and fell in more in love with those. I have all of the Dragonball Z CDs and I love the music from it. There's one 'song' called Vegeta's BBQ that still make me happy. Lost of weird songs too...
I, of course, loved Trunks most of all but by the time I finished the series I loved just about everyone from Goku to Mr.Satan ^^

LORD VEGETA IS COOKING UP HELL. <3 OMG haha, I LOVE the character albums! Their image songs are always pure crack. Wish I still had them on this computer! I especially loved Piccolo's, but then again I am completely biased because I'm a Piccolo fangirl. =D
Japanese DBZ is just good viewing material. My boyfriend and I are so thoroughly addicted at the moment that I haven't even hesitated for ONE second to buy the boxsets, and they're $30-40 per season. ^_^
It's so good to see another girl nowadays who likes DBZ. <3 (Just between me and the boards, I've been contemplating opening a DB-universe TCG...... hrm.)

I've never really like DBZ. I was forced into watching it by my friends because they all loved it and that's all they talked about 6 years ago. So I had to watch it just to see what they were so crazy about. I got used to it eventually but I guess I never really loved it.
.. maybe I should watch the Japanese version? (I've only ever watched the english dubs)
DB is probably very cute, DBZ is alright but DBGT is just odd.

Fujiko: Haha, well, I can say that I agree with you regarding DBGT! The storyline is as whacked as could possibly be. srsly. I haven't even seen all of Dragonball, but I really loved what I DID see. The earliest parts and the latter parts were my favorite. It was interesting seeing where all of the characters hailed from as opposed to DBZ where everyone is just ... there and magically friends. =D @everyone!!~ This is a completely hypothetical question and I make no promises related to the proposal, BUT, would anyone actually join a DBZ TCG if there was one? =D Can't say I'm not tempted muahaha. I have 2 seasons on DVD as well as numerous scans and manga and the like. <3

Hmm.. I guess we finally have a difference Mousey. I never really liked DBZ, but those alien twins were cool though.. and was Piccolo supposed to be a human pickle, because he was green and kinda resembled a cucumber, no? hehe

Hah! Never thought of it that way. XD I didn't imagine a Sailormoon TCG would be slammed full of hardcore shounen fans, but there's always the one weirdo such as myself that just loves all kinds of crap. I have favorite titles from shoujo (obviously), shounen, seinen, and (lots of) yaoi. xD Just checking to see where I stand.

As well as seeing Goku when he's still young. ^^ I probably wouldn't join a DBZ TCG. I don't enjoy the show all that much and I don't know all that much about it either. ^^;; I love heaps of other Shonen manga.. just DBZ is not one of them.

My boyfriend and I just bought the Broli movie boxset (movies 8, 10, 11) and watched them last night, and wow, memories!! On a grandoise scale. DO READ ON. =D
They're older (dubbed circa 2005) and FUNimation was still stuck in their "OMG MUST CHILDIZE TEH ANNAMAY" mode, so they still had their own score blaring over the action. Nothing but hardcore rock. (And I mean actual hardcore.) Guh! I remember why I used to tirade against FUNi so much when I was young because they really do squelch any amount of drama or suspense or EMOTION in their dubbing. There's very little rising or falling action; it's just an hour of YAY IM GOKU HOWRU IM DPIN GREST LETZ FITE. <# (Translation: Yay! I'm Goku! How are you? I'm doing great! Let us fight. <3)
Either way, I still seriously love DBZ. It's just minor annoyances like that get under my skin now that I've watched a lot of the originals. I have most of the movies (except for 4 and 12) fansubbed on two old bootleg VHS (like ..... "7 years ago" old) and that was my first exposure to Japanese DBZ. I was floored at the tender age of 14; there's violence! Death! Depth! Characterization! GOOD VOICES. =O Like a lot of anime, there's something that's lost in translation--and I don't mean it literally, even though there is often something literally lost in the translation. 'Specially when they add in lame dialogue. That's one thing I noticed in the Broli movie; Broli was TERRIFYING in the Japanese because he was literally unbeatable. Instead they had him mouthing off one-liners and "zingers" towards the Z Senshi. W. T. F.
Okay haha long story short .... Japanese DBZ > American DBZ.

yeah I so skimmed through this. I used to despise DBZ and my ex-bf talked me into giving it a chance and can I just say I adore Gohan. He is my absolute favorite, especially when he's a teenager. Gohan/Videl OTP. ZOMG. I even designed an unfinished fan website. Oh man, I haven't watched it in so long and there are definitely lots of parts I've missed.
I'll have to sit down and watch through it all sometime.

Awww that's so cute! *grins* I'll have to link you the layout sometime. I have it still but I haven't done anything with it. I altered a doujinshi picture and it's adorable. Videl is crawling toward Gohan who is wimpering on the ground. LOLOLOL
I freaking love it.
