So I know some people on here take or have taken Japanese, so I thought I'd ask this here.
I've been playing around with the Japanese input thing on Windows, and I've got hiragana down pat:
こんにちは
see? But I can't figure out how to make katakana. Which is a pain. The settings indicate I should have an option when I type in the letters to choose hiragana or katakana with the numbers but all I seem to get is numbers, even though I have that function on the chinese input just fine.

Have you tried holding the shift key?
Never used Japanese input on Windows, but I know that's what works for my japanese word processor ^^

Hmmmmmm, I'm not sure what's different, but when I want to switch between English/Japanese, I go to my language bar, click JP and this pops up. When I click the A, a list of options (hiragana, katakana, alphanumeric) is viewable, but if you're not seeing that, I doubt we've got the same thing going on. D:

Yeah, it's as Britti says: look at your Language bar. Another way is to type in Hiragana, but press on the space bar, then use the arrows on you keyboard and go up or down and it should show different ways to write what you inputted. Katakana should be one option there.
